Judith Thomas
I have worked with children with communication disorders since 2003. I graduated as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2008 and I now work in the North of England in a school for children and young people aged 4-19. I have been privileged to work with a wide range of children and families with diverse speech, language and communication needs and cultures over the last 17 years and I am constantly learning more from my clients as I help them to develop their skills.
I believe in the fundamental right to communication of all children. I love my work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support all our pupils to communicate in whatever way is best for them. I have training in a variety of Alternative and Augmentative Communication supports and throughout the school we value pupil voice as central to the education we provide.
I am particularly interested in social roles valorisation, evidence-based practice, and the disability rights movement.
